Yew Dell Gardens Wedding | Jen + Jordan {Louisville Film Photographers}

Jen and Jordan had an absolutely gorgeous Spring day for their Yew Dell Gardens wedding. We loved every little detail that the couple included in their day, many of which were  handmade. From the chalkboard arrow signs pointing to the ceremony and reception, to the ‘Cheers’ sign above the bar, the ‘Mr.’ and ‘Mrs.’ signs hanging on their chairs, and the table numbers featuring important places to the couple, everywhere we turned there were beautiful and unique personal touches added. For photographers like us, the day was full of inspiration!

Aside from the obvious beauty of the day, we had such a fantastic time because Jen and Jordan were a tremendous joy to work with. This sweet couple was obviously in head over heels in love with each other, and their happiness was overflowing the entire day. Another reason we were totally inspired!

Angela + Corey | Louisville Wedding Film Photography {The Galt House and Highland Baptist Church}

Angela and Corey had a simply gorgeous wedding at Highland Baptist Church, followed by an equally lovely reception at the Galt House in Downtown Louisville. It was a day we absolutely loved being there to take part in and photograph for this sweet couple! As I began the task of trying to narrow down all of the stellar images for a few favorites to share here, I decided to tell the story of this particular bride and groom with a sampling of our film photographs from the day. We have been combining the use of both digital and film photography for several years now, and we are both in love with the rich color, detail, and look of medium format film photographs. Cody + Jordan | Frazier History Museum Louisville Wedding Photography

Cody and Jordan said “I do” in the chapel at the gorgeous Christ Church UMC in Louisville, and then celebrated with their family and friends at a very modern reception downtown at the Frazier History Museum. We had such a wonderful time hanging out and photographing the day for this awesome couple! Cody and Jordan included lots of personality their details, and put together an extremely fun, urban, dance-party reception to enjoy with their guests. Kellye, from Engagements, was there to help make the day a success, and as always, she was a true joy to work with! Enjoy a few of our favorite story-telling images from the day :)

The cake was made up of lots of fun flavors of cupcakes, and had little banners to identify each flavor. Made by Plehn’s Bakery, and it was quite delicious :)

Rebecca + Adam | Ashley Inn Bed and Breakfast Wedding

 

Rebecca and Adam’s gorgeous Richmond, Kentucky, wedding at the Ashley Inn Bed and Breakfast was such a joy to photograph! We simply adore this sweet couple, which of course makes our job a delight. These two also put such emphasis on unique, personal details for their day that everywhere we looked, there was something fun to photograph. Rebecca and Adam both love to read, and they chose to combine that with inspiration from one of Rebecca’s favorite books–Alice in Wonderland–to create their fabulous ‘Mad Hatter Tea Party’ themed wedding. The wonderful team of Always Planned was there to make sure the day was as perfect as could be, and as always, we loved working with them! The bride and  groom chose to do a ‘First Look’ to have a special moment just for the two of them prior to the wedding ceremony. First looks always make for wonderful, emotional photos!

Rebecca is a stunningly beautiful bride!

Each of the bridesmaids had a unique Alice in Wonderland character handkerchief wrapped around their bouquets. A Perfect Posy made these lovely bouquets. Love it!

The bride and groom’s rings set atop one of their creative book-themed centerpieces.

The signature lemonade cocktails were served in mason jars with sugar-coated rims. Yum! South Van Events catered the reception and cocktail hour.

I cannot get over how amazing this cake was!! Tinker’s did an absolutely fabulous job of creating a ‘Mad Hatter Tea Party’ cake and cupcakes.

Amongst the other reception details, a few favorite quotes from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ were framed for display.

Each table had its own unique centerpiece consisting of old books, trinkets, and a table number spelled with Scrabble blocks. Each table was assigned a number with a special meaning to the bride and groom.

Amanda + George | Richwood Plantation Wedding

Amanda and George said “I do” and celebrated in style with all of their family and friends at the gorgeous Richwood Plantation in Milton, Kentucky. Amanda spent lots of time planning all the little details that made her wedding so beautiful and unique… from the hand-painted shoes with their vows written on them, the carriage that brought Amanda and the girls to the ceremony, the vintage blue porcelain dishes and centerpieces, their little jars of jam for guest favors, and more. We were thrilled to be there to photograph the day and celebrate with this amazing couple. Enjoy a few of our favorite images from the day!

Amanda’s stunning dress came from the Couture Closet, and her beautiful wedding cake, flavorful cupcakes, and unique groom’s cake were made by Adrienne and Co.

Matt + Nicole | Super 8mm Wedding at Wildwood Inn, Denton,TX

When Matt and Nicole asked us to film their wedding with Super 8mm film, we were stoked! There was a tiny issue however. Their Super 8mm wedding was taking place at Wildwood Inn located in Denton Texas, and we were photographing a wedding here in Louisville the day before!  We finished up our wedding here late Saturday night, went home to pack up, and headed to the airport for our 7 a.m. flight. We landed in Dallas at 9:30 a.m., grabbed lunch, dropped our luggage off, got cleaned up and ready to head to to the wedding. At this point we’ve been awake for close to 30 hours! But, we caught our 2nd (or 4th) wind and were ready to rock.

Their intimate wedding was an absolute blast to film! While I was filming with Super 8mm, wedding photographer George Dean made sure I got my shot and was a fantastic guy to work with!

Rebecca + Adam | Lexington Engagement Photography {Glover’s Bookery + Gratz Park}

Rebecca + Adam | Lexington Engagement Photography {Glover’s Bookery + Gratz Park}

We have been super excited about Rebecca and Adam’s Lexington engagement session ever since we first met her at the beginning of the year. She mentioned to us that she and Adam love to read, so obviously we had to incorporate that into their session! Rebecca found an awesome rare and out-of-print bookstore in Lexington called Glover’s Bookery, which made the absolute perfect setting for the first half of their session. We absolutely loved all the old stacks of books in this charming old two-story home in Lexington.

After spending some time at Glover’s Bookery, we headed down to Gratz Park in Lexington. Rebecca and Adam brought their adorable dog to be in a few photos with them as they sat on a blanket with a stack of books to read together. Rebecca found a couple of old Alice in Wonderland books at Glover’s, which was PERFECT since that’s the theme for the wedding next fall! It was the perfect way further personalize their awesome session!

Kathryn + Chris | Somerset Wedding Photography {The Barn at Redgate}

Kathryn and Chris are awesome. We didn’t get the chance to actually meet them until the night before the wedding, but we could tell immediately that these two were all about having fun! It was an incredibly hot day, but this couple and their bridal party were not going to let that stop them from enjoying the day and celebrating properly :) They had a gorgeous wedding in Kathryn’s hometown of Somerset, Kentucky. After a lovely ceremony in her home church, everyone headed over to the Barn at Redgate, which was the perfect venue for their reception… a massive tent housed lots of tables, a bar, and the dance floor for all the guests to enjoy the evening, and when anyone wanted to escape the heat for a bit, they could head into the air conditioned ‘barn’ where the food and cake were. I absolutely loved all of their decor… four huge balls of white roses hung from the ceiling of the tent over the dance floor, and the tables were adorned with tall topiaries and lanterns surrounded by a mixture of beautiful white and pink flowers. And, it’s always great to see the guests dancing all night long!

Megan + Aaron | Louisville Wedding Photographers {the Marriott Downtown}

How many times can I begin a post with how much we adore a couple http://www.marriottlouisville.com/://www.marriottlouisville.com/ you begin wondering if it’s really true? I’ll go ahead and clear it up for you… if I say it, I mean it… and we (as Louisville Wedding Photographers)seriously have been consistently blessed with having the most incredibly wonderful couples to work with!! Megan and Aaron are no exception; we love them! We knew that we would enjoy working with these two from the very first time we met. It was simply obvious how in love they are with each other, how pleasant they are to chat with, how fun they are to spend time with, and how much they will cherish having fabulous photos of their wedding. That pretty much sums up our favorite type of couples to work with :)

Megan and Aaron had a small but beautiful celebration at the Louisville Marriott Downtown. Guests enjoyed a simple and sweet ceremony and a lively evening of dinner and dancing. Enjoy a few of our favorites from the day!

Andrea + Kennon | Louisville Wedding Photographers {Wildwood Country Club}

Andrea and Kennon are one of those couples who you can’t help but love being around. Full of smiles and always laughing and having fun, these two have been a joy to work with over the past year! On the wedding day, I noticed immediately that every time Andrea heard my camera click, she’d look straight at me with a huge smile across her face… I couldn’t help but smile back every single time and take one more photo :)

As I followed Andrea and the girls around while they prepped for the big day, Eric hung out with Kennon and the guys as they spent the morning fishing. I love the fact that we are each able to photograph separate parts of the day when we need to; it’s so great for our brides and grooms to be able to look at their wedding photos and see how the other spent their time anxiously awaiting and prepping for their wedding. The little moments matter in the story just as much as the big ones!
